Onetree Border Collies

A little about me

Sub-links for this page

Here is my story.

I have grown up in the country and live on acreage where we have always had plenty of animals, from cows to chooks, cats to dogs and everything in between.

When aged 14 I was unfortunate to have received and injury to my wrist which stopped me in my tracks and as you can imagine being young and not coping I turned to my animals. After several operations and not many successful I was feeling down and my parents brought me my first Border Collie, I have had dogs before but there was something special to having a BC and that is so true, after months of searching for a chocolate we stumbled across a lady that had two females left and it was so quick just one pup being placed in my arms straight away I knew she was the one for me and I just couldn't put her down, she wasn't pedigree but she was purebred. A very small 6 week old split faced chocolate girl that got the name 'Reba' - rightly named after the country singer Reba McIntyre. Reba spent her first 12months being a very cheeky puppy so we thought best get her into some serious training and then a love of training dogs began. I also met Tina from Monlaird Border Collies she introduced me to a world of pedigree show dogs and I just admired her Blue girl Skye she was so stunning and such an amazing performer.

(Unfortunately after several attempts I have lost most abilities in my right wrist and now have been reduced to it being fused together and also a fake ulna in place. For this reason I wont be breeding often and will be taking my plans extremely slowly.)

Tina not only introduced me to Breeding but also show, obedience, Agility, Herding and also general day to day behaviour problems I could face with my dogs. I'm extremely grateful for the eye opener to the world of breeding and having performance Border Collies.

Unfortunately Reba lost her battle in 2009, she was only 4 years old. See her Rainbow Bridge page for more details.

I then purchased my first pedigree puppy, I wanted something that wasn't the 'Typical Black' so I started my hunt for a Red and White girl that was suitable for Breeding, showing, Agility and everything in between.....It took almost 15months to find a suitable girl that had every quality I was after. Ivy was that girl. Ivy is amazing, she has taken us on a ride with being unwell and having pups and then winning the Agility ring and then always being there for lots of cuddles.

I wont be breeding often as I want to take the time in allowing my dogs to mature and have fun just being a dog. I also compete in Agility and Flyball so you might even see us out and about.

I'm grateful for the dogs I have as they have helped me learn which is a fault so I can make better judgments as I pick future breeding dogs and studs.

Hope you enjoy your visit and if there is anything else you need to know, send me an email with your questions and I will get back to you.
